Zoom arrives back on Earth-1 intent on taking over Central City. Barry and Wells come up with a plan to stop Zoom once and for all but it's extremely dangerous. Unsure if he should take the risk, Barry reaches out to both fathers for advice. Henry is adamantly opposed to Barry risking his life again but Joe thinks he can handle it which puts the two men at odds with each other. Meanwhile, Cisco is shocked when he vibes the Earth-2 villain Rupture, who happens to be his brother Dante's doppelgänger. Rupture came to this Earth seeking justice for Reverb's death. Iris decides she's finally ready to open up to Barry about her feelings for him.
The episode starts with the Flash chasing after a car, presumably driven by criminals. It turns out, the Flash seen is a hologram, being used to give the citizens of Central City hope. After taking down the criminals, the police arrive and Team Flash back at S.T.A.R. Labs celebrate. They are cut off by Wells who points out it won't be long until someone figures out the Flash hologram doesn't go indoors or talk or touch anything. He thinks they should recreate the particle accelerator explosion to get Barry's speed back- and says he knows how to contain it from the files the Earth-1 Wells kept. Wells reminds them that Caitlin is gone, and they can't save her without getting Barry's speed back.
Barry drives up to a secluded place, somewhere in a forest, to see his dad, Henry Allen. He tells him that he doesn't have his speed anymore, because he gave it up to save his foster brother, Wally West. Barry mentions that Jay took Caitlin- and Henry repeats his last name saying that Garrick was his mom's maiden name. He tells his dad that Wells wants him to recreate the explosion. Henry doesn't think he should, saying he doesn't need powers in order to be the son that he's so proud of.
Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco, Wells and Jesse debate how Barry will get his speed back. Cisco then vibes his brother, Dante Ramon and leaves quickly. Barry and Henry then arrive much to Iris' delight. She calls Joe to let him know Henry is in town.
At the Central City Police Department Joe and Captain Singh walk by. Joe talks to Wally, and the latter asks if he ever gets sick of his job. Wally relays that he thinks he should be doing more with his life, and he's thought of that ever since the Flash saved him. While their conversation is happening, Zoom speeds into the building. Caitlin, on the upper floor begs Zoom not to hurt anyone. Zoom visibly hesitates, then goes onto address the people in the department. He tells them to tell everyone in Central City that it is now under his control, and that anyone who disobeys him will "meet their end." Singh reluctantly tells everyone to clear out and they all back up slowly, away from Zoom.
At S.T.A.R. Labs Joe tells the others that he saw Caitlin. Iris asks why he would bring her to Earth-1 and Wells answers that it's a show of power. Wells goes on to say that the first thing that Zoom died on Earth-2 was murder people, then recruit every meta-human he could find. He warns Joe that Zoom will kill them all but Joe thinks Caitlin is enough to make sure Zoom doesn't. Barry asks if the police could set up at Jitters to be safe, seeing as it's only a block away from the precinct. Wells, impatient at being ignored, laments that Zoom will do exactly as he did on Earth-1 as he did on Earth-2. In order to stop him, he believes that Barry needs to get his speed back. Henry thinks there must be another way, while Wells insists there is not. Joe goes to tell Singh to set up a task force at Jitters, but he doesn't know what they should do after that.
Meanwhile, Caitlin talks to Zoom- with his cowl down, while handcuffed to a desk. He says that he doesn't want to be alone anymore, and that's why he's keeping Caitlin with him. He says that he see's the darkness inside of her just as it was inside Killer Frost, and all she has to do is unlock it. After he leaves, Caitlin's attention is drawn to a few evidence boxes underneath a nearby desk.
At an unnamed bar, Cisco meets up with his brother, Dante. Dante asks him what's wrong, and Cisco says that he had a feeling he should come and see him. The two have a clipped conversation, and Cisco mentions that he doesn't know why he thought that when they were abducted by Leonard Snart it would bring the two of them closer. Dante scoffs, saying they haven't been close since they were kids.
In the time vault, Jesse, Joe and Wally are setting up. He gives Jesse a tablet so they can reach them and leaves, saying that locking them in a time vault is the best option to keep them safe from Zoom.
Upstairs, Wells is working on an equation to get Barry's speed back. Joe reminds Wells that once Barry makes up his mind it's impossible to change his mind. Wells says a little convincing will do the trick- but is interrupted by Henry entering the room and saying that they shouldn't have to convince Barry to do anything against his will. The three have a somewhat tense conversation on what's best for Barry before noticing the man himself, standing by the door listening. Barry says that they all have their own opinions on the matter, but in the end it's his choice.
Back at the bar, Cisco see's a news story about Zoom taking over the CCPD. He leaves in a hurry, Dante close behind. They are soon attacked by a man with a scythe outside the building, and it is revealed that it is Dante's doppelgänger from Earth-2. They are nearly killed, but manage to get into Cisco's van and drive away.
At S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco tells the team that fake Dante was told by Zoom that he killed his brother- Reverb. Wells said Rupture (Earth-2 Dante) gets his power from the scythe he wields. Barry says that they need to figure out a way to get the scythe away from him. Cisco says he'll figure it out, and find a way to not tell Dante why the man looked just like him. Wells gives Barry a look, and says that he knows what he needs to do. Barry goes off to get a moment to himself, and Iris follows. She tells him that with his speed or without she loves him and that he's always had someone to come home to.
At CCPD, Caitlin has managed to get a phone from an evidence box and Rupture has a meeting with Zoom. Caitlin overhears that Rupture is going to attack Jitters later that night and quickly texts the team at S.T.A.R. Labs about the plan.
Barry decides that getting his powers back is not the most important thing to do at the moment because setting off the accelerator is too risky. He doesn't want to do it until he's sure, so the team goes in to take down Rupture without his powers.
Dante finds Cisco in his lab, and asks him about a note he left on his desk that said he went to another Earth. Cisco, flustered, tries to doge his questions but Dante persists. He eventually ends up telling him that he is a meta-human and about their Earth-2 counterparts. Dante asks why he didn't tell him sooner, and Cisco replies that he was right about what he said earlier. The two haven't been close in years and there's nothing they can do to change it. The conversation is cut short when Cisco announces that he has to go and he leaves to help Barry and the others take down Rupture.
The team and the police task force are successful in taking down the Earth-2 meta-human but once Zoom see's in on the news he grows furious. He asks Caitlin why she betrayed him then growls that now they are even. He goes to Jitters himself, snaps the neck of all the police men- except Joe, Singh, Barry and a camera man. He tells Barry that's he's only alive because of Caitlin but if he tries something like that again, he won't hesitate to end him. The camera man films the entire thing. Zoom kills Rupture, his final words to him being that he was an even greater dissapointment than his brother. Cisco is horrified by that statement. Zoom then takes the camera and tells the people of the city that the Flash running around in the streets is a fake, merely a hologram. He tells them that there is nothing that can protect them from him.
Barry, once they get back to the lab, decides that they need to get his powers back. One of the factors being that one of the officers back at Jitters had a son. Cisco finds Dante and the two hug- Cisco saying that he wants things to change between them because they are brothers.
Down in the time vault, Jesse and Wally work on breaking out.
The team work on getting Barry his speed back, locking him tightly into a contraption and injecting chemicals into his body. Cisco uses the wand he created for Mark Mardon to call down a lightning bolt from the sky, and they use that to strike Barry. Iris is horrified by it all, along with Henry. Jesse and Wally manage to escape the time vault just as tremors vibrate through the building. Confused, they race toward the noise just a wave of energy hits them and they are thrown backwards and knocked unconscious. When the lightning hits Barry, it appears that he starts to disintegrate. When the smoke and light clears, Barry is gone.
Stunned, the team race to where he used to be, but find nothing but charred remains of his suit.Zoom, having seen the lightning bolt, races to S.T.A.R. Labs but is relieved to find Barry is gone. He tells the team good job for killing him, then speeds away.
- During the scene with Cisco and the Flash hologram he yells "Leeroy!" This is a reference to a user created video from World of Warcraft where Leeroy Jenkins charged into battle yelling his own name and ended up getting his party killed.
